Olomouc Christmas Market

The Olomouc Christmas market covers the two main squares of the centre, Horní náměstí and Dolní náměstí. It is the market Czechs search for most, ahead of Brno and Prague. For 2026, the City announces an opening from late November to early January, with no precise days as of 8 October 2026. CzechTourism, the national tourism agency, gives 20 November to 23 December 2026. We are waiting for the organiser’s calendar before listing any dates. In its selection of Czech markets, CzechTourism places Olomouc right after Prague and Brno.

2026 dates: to be confirmed

The City entrusted the 2026 edition to Kulturní Olomouc, the company that has organised the market for more than fifteen years, by direct award after a concession planned for 2026-2030 was cancelled. Its May 2026 announcement places the market from late November to early January, on Horní and Dolní náměstí. CzechTourism publishes shorter dates, from 20 November to 23 December 2026. Until the market’s website, vanocnitrhy.eu, publishes its calendar, we are not listing any days.

The 2025 edition opened from 21 November to 23 December, then a few stalls carried on from 26 to 31 December. In 2024, a trial opening on Friday 22 November preceded the official opening on Sunday 24 November at 6pm.

The kingdom of punch

Olomouc claims this title: the market serves dozens of different punches, with a punch trail to follow and souvenir cups. More than a hundred stalls filled the two squares in 2024, selling Christmas decorations, food and hot drinks. The tree, around 15 metres tall, stands in front of the Holy Trinity Column, a UNESCO site. A 10-metre lookout tower, built from shipping containers, overlooks the square, and a historic carousel turns for the children. A third area, the Vánoční tržnice, adds a free ice rink and a Ferris wheel.

In 2025, the organiser set aside quiet hours for autistic people on Dolní náměstí, from 10am to noon on weekdays. In 2024, the City announced more than 70,000 visitors a year, from all over Czechia and abroad.

2025 opening hours, to be confirmed for 2026

In 2025, the stalls opened every day from 10am to 8pm and the bars served until 10pm. The organiser had not published the 2026 timetable as of 8 October 2026.

Getting to the Olomouc Christmas market

The market occupies Horní náměstí and Dolní náměstí, in the centre of Olomouc. For travel from abroad, we had found neither a connection nor a journey time as of 8 October 2026: check trains from Prague or Brno with the operators before you book.
