How to use the Christmas markets map

This interactive map brings together the Christmas markets listed on the site, in France and Europe. Each pin opens a listing with the dates of the 2026 edition, opening hours, how to get there by train or car, the specialities to try and a tip for planning your visit. Listings are checked every year against the official sources of the towns and tourist offices.

The filters can be combined freely. Reach ranks the markets by the distance they justify: “Worth the trip” for destinations that deserve a weekend at the other end of France or Europe (marked with a star-shaped pin), “Worth the weekend” for a region's major markets, “Day out” and “Local favourite” for markets close to home. You can tick several levels at once, then narrow things down by country, atmosphere or market size.

Since autumn 2026, the map reaches beyond France's borders: Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and Italy, each with the journey from France. The region and country pages group the listings by area, from Alsace to the Tyrol. The “parks and points of interest” switch adds the theme parks and other sites that run a Christmas programme: they aren't markets, so they're flagged with a gold pin and gathered on the Christmas activities page.

The list beneath the filters shows the markets on display, ranked by interest, with their opening period, size and atmosphere. Clicking a town in the list or its pin takes you to the full listing. To plan a stay, the magazine rounds out the map with itineraries, selections and the traditions of each region.
