Offer for 2026-2027 not detailed

In Sevenum, in the heart of Dutch Limburg, Toverland at Christmas swaps its Nordic legends for strings of lights, an outdoor ice rink and an ice slide. The park, known for its themed roller coasters and its world of fantasy creatures, opens in the middle of winter for Winter Feelings: a tight programme mixing rides that run depending on the weather with entertainment specific to the cold season. Less than three hours' drive from northern France, between Eindhoven and the German border, it works well for a winter break in Limburg, a region that French visitors mostly associate with its big theme parks. The format is aimed first at families with children, on the model of a day at a park rather than a wander between market chalets.

Toverland at Christmas: what Winter Feelings offers

The park keeps its usual layout but dresses it for winter. An outdoor ice rink and a curling lane are installed for the season, along with a tubing slide for families after some sliding without skis or a sledge. A musical show closes the evenings in a setting decorated with lights and Christmas trees, on the park's main walkways. This programme is added to the usual rides rather than replacing what is on offer during the rest of the year: the park keeps its identity as a thrill destination, redressed for December and January.

The flagship rides, such as the Fēnix roller coaster or the Djengu River water ride, are not guaranteed in winter: check the list of rides open on the day of your visit, with indoor attractions as the natural fallback. Winter Feelings is built on the model of a day at a theme park, with a paid ticket giving access to the whole site, rather than that of an open-air Christmas market where you move freely between chalets. Anyone looking above all for crafts and mulled wine will find that elsewhere; anyone who wants to keep children busy for a whole day, between thrills and ice skating, will find a coherent offer here.

Dates and opening hours for the 2026-2027 edition

The park confirms on its official website a Winter Feelings season from 28 November 2026 to 17 January 2027, so around seven weeks. The park does not open every day during Winter Feelings, and the days kept for this edition are not known yet. The precise hours and the calendar of any closures (24, 25 and 31 December, 1 January) had not been published as of 2 September 2026: the park itself announces further details to come on these points, in wording that is still fairly vague on its site. Better to check the online ticket shop a few weeks before your visit, once the detailed calendar has been updated for this edition, rather than rely on the hours of a previous season.

That caution counts double for a visitor coming from France: the journey means half a day on the road or by train, and a surprise closure on a school-holiday day would ruin the trip. A check on the official ticket shop the day before you leave remains the most reliable habit.

Tickets and prices for Winter Feelings

The 2026-2027 price list is not yet published in the official shop. As a reference point, the 2025-2026 edition showed a full-price ticket between €41.50 and €44.50 depending on the day, and a child ticket at €36.50, as recorded on Dutch resale platforms. An official Early Bird discount, up to €7 per person, applied to any booking made at least seven days in advance: a couple with two children could therefore save €28 on the final bill. The third-party ticket seller HEMA Tickets also offered tickets for the winter season, alongside the park's own shop.

As with many European parks, booking online works out clearly cheaper than paying at the gate on the day, when the year's price list allows the comparison. Toverland has no hotel on site: overnight stays are taken in the nearby Center Parcs or in local campsites, with which the park has commercial partnerships rather than integrated accommodation of the kind some large German or Belgian parks offer.

Getting there from France: access, accommodation and accessibility

By car, allow around 3 hours from Lille and around 3 hours 30 from Metz, via Belgium and then the Netherlands. By train, the route goes through Venlo or Eindhoven, followed by a bus or a taxi to Sevenum; the nearby Horst-Sevenum station serves the area with a connection. The journey is longer than for Europa-Park or the big Belgian parks, which pushes most French visitors to combine Toverland with another plan in the region rather than aim for it alone for a simple day out. There is a car park at the entrance to the site, as at most large parks in the area.

The park advertises extensive accessibility for visitors with reduced mobility: lifts on several rides including Fēnix, Djengu River and Dwervelwind, adapted toilets fitted with changing tables, accessible restaurants and shops, and wheelchair hire in limited numbers (booking advised). A coloured wristband system allows access through dedicated entrances, which limits queuing and sensory overload for visitors who need it. A reduced rate exists for disabled visitors, booked through the park's customer service.

Dutch Limburg borders both Germany and Belgium: a detour to the Cologne Christmas market, the Aachen one or the Antwerp one extends the stay without adding much to the drive. Those three cities lend themselves well to a weekend built around Toverland, with one or two nights in a local Center Parcs or a hotel in one of them, rather than a same-day round trip from France.

Family budget and tips for visiting Toverland at Christmas

For two adults and two children, count between €128 and €162 for tickets alone, depending on whether the Early Bird discount applies (2025-2026 prices, the 2026-2027 list not yet published). The calculation is based on two adult tickets between €41.50 and €44.50 and two child tickets at €36.50, with or without the €7 discount per person. That amount covers neither parking, nor food on site, nor the journey from France, which weighs more heavily than for a day out in a closer border town. In budget terms, a day at Toverland is comparable to a day at a large theme park rather than a visit to a traditional Christmas market where you only pay for what you consume.

  • The outdoor ice rink and the curling lane, in place for the run of Winter Feelings, with access included in the park ticket.
  • The tubing slide and the musical show that closes the evenings, in a setting of lights and Christmas trees.
  • The water rides and the outdoor coasters, open depending on the weather that day, with indoor rides as a fallback in rain or wind.
  • A possible detour to the Cologne Christmas market, the Aachen one or the Antwerp one, all three in the neighbouring Rhineland or Flanders, to extend the stay over several days.

Check the opening calendar before you set off: Toverland does not open every day during Winter Feelings. Warm, waterproof clothing helps you enjoy the outdoor rides even in wet weather, which is common in this part of the Netherlands in December. Families coming from far away do well to combine the day at the park with a stop at one of the neighbouring German or Belgian Christmas markets, rather than driving there and back in a single day. Anyone coming mainly for the atmosphere of a real open-air Christmas market will find it in the nearby towns, not in the park itself.
