The ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden, is rebuilt every winter: artists carve the rooms of the year’s edition, and a permanent part, ICEHOTEL 365, stays open all year round with its Art Suites and Deluxe Suites made of ice. The address is Marknadsvägen 63, 981 91 Jukkasjärvi. Warm rooms and Arctic Cabins mean you can spend just one night in the cold.

What winter looks like there

ICEHOTEL 37, the 2026-2027 edition, opens on 11 December 2026 with twelve Art Suites. The Ice Rooms and Art Suites of the winter hotel can be booked from December to April. The Christmas 2026 programme is published: Santa arrives on 24 December at 4:30pm outside ICEHOTEL 365, the Christmas menu is served on 24 December only, and there is a concert in Jukkasjärvi church on 25 December. Getting there from Kiruna

Jukkasjärvi is 17 km east of Kiruna on the E10 road, and 15 minutes by car from Kiruna airport, itself around 9 km from the town centre. No direct flight links the United Kingdom to Kiruna in winter 2026-2027: you will go via Stockholm, served all year round, or via Copenhagen, linked to Kiruna from 17 December 2026 to 7 March 2027.

Who it suits

Travellers who want the night in the ice as the high point of a stay, with a warm room for the other nights. Art lovers too: each suite is a signed work, different from one year to the next. For a Christmas in the ice in Finland, the Arctic SnowHotel near Rovaniemi opens on 15 December.

Before you book

  • No nightly rate had been published in mid-October 2026; prices are calculated at booking.
  • Dated packages: the ICEHOTEL 37 opening, from 10 to 12 December 2026, two nights at 25,995 SEK per person, was already sold out; “The Arctic Reset”, from 30 December 2026 to 1 January 2027, two nights at 29,995 SEK per person, has 14 places.
  • The day visit is shown at 325 SEK per adult until December 2026; the winter season price had not been published in mid-October.
