Christmas in the heart of Paris
Say “Christmas market in Paris” and most people think of the Tuileries Garden, which has hosted the market since 2018. Between the Louvre and Place de la Concorde, in a listed garden, around 80 chalets set up in 2025 from mid-November to early January.
The setting is, of course, remarkable. The royal perspective, the ponds, the Ferris wheel of the 2025 edition: this is Paris at its most iconic, Christmas edition.
Market and funfair
The Tuileries market brings two worlds together: a village of artisan chalets and a family funfair. In 2025, the Ferris wheel gave you a panoramic view over the garden and the rooftops of Paris. The site also had rides and funfair attractions, a 250 m² ice rink (€10 including skate hire) and Father Christmas.
This dual identity divides opinion: some come looking for the authenticity of a true artisan Christmas market and will be disappointed by the funfair side. Others enjoy the festive, family feel. You be the judge.
The other Paris markets
Paris has a dozen or so Christmas markets. The Saint-Germain-des-Prés market is more intimate and craft-oriented. The one on the La Défense esplanade is huge and easy to reach. The Montmartre market, small but charming, has a picturesque setting. And the Alsatian market at Gare de l'Est recalls the traditions of the markets of eastern France.
Practical tips
Entry is free; the rides, the ice rink and the food are paid for. Prices at the chalets are Parisian. The upside: the market stays open until early January, so you can visit outside the peak periods. The 2025 edition, organised by Le Monde Festif, ran from 15 November 2025 to 4 January 2026, daily 11am-11.45pm. The organiser had not yet published the 2026 dates as of 9 October 2026.
Our tip
The Tuileries market is very touristy and prices are Parisian. For more authentic crafts, head for the Saint-Germain-des-Prés Christmas market or the one in Square René-Viviani, opposite Notre-Dame. Come on a weekday in the late afternoon for the lights without the weekend crowds.
