Aurora Village Ivalo, glass-roofed cabins for ages 12 and over in winter in pictures
Aurora Village is in Ivalo, in the municipality of Inari, at Aurorakuja 38. Its cabins, Aurora Cabin, Aurora Suite, Aurora Tower and Aurora Tower Suite, have a heated glass roof: you watch the sky from your bed. The village is open all year round.
What winter looks like there
From 1 September to 10 April, a three-course dinner is included in the night. The evening is spent under the glass, with no guarantee of northern lights. One rule matters above all: from December to March, the establishment only takes travellers aged 12 and over. At Christmas, a younger child therefore cannot stay there.
Getting there from Saariselkä
Aurora Village is in Ivalo, not in the resort of Saariselkä. Ivalo airport is 11 km from the centre of Ivalo and 25 km from Saariselkä, with a seasonal shuttle to the resort. The direct flights to Ivalo announced for winter 2026-2027 had no published dates in mid-October; from Rovaniemi, allow 260 km and around 3 hours by bus to Saariselkä.
Who it suits
Couples and adults looking for a quiet evening under the glass with dinner included, and families whose children are 12 or over. For a stay with young children over the festive period, Kakslauttanen and the Northern Lights Village Saariselkä have no such published age rule.
Before you book
- Age rule: 12 and over from December to March, with no exception announced.
- No prices are published on the establishment’s website: the price is calculated at booking.
- Ivalo is not Saariselkä: if your excursions leave from the resort, allow for the 25 km.
